It’s the start of a new year, bringing many hopes and opportunities.
Weddings, birthdays, and even new arrivals are already vying for our time.
Those blank calendars are starting to fill up.
How can you make 2020 a memorable year? What’s the secret to stopping it from running away, leaving you looking to 2021 as the year to attend to that bucket list?
Here are a few tips:
1. Book all your time off for the year in January.
Avoid date clashes with work colleagues and get some great discounts by booking early. Make time for a spontaneous trip with someone special.
2. Take time to say goodbye to 2019.
We often embrace the new without really transitioning from one year to the next. What lessons did you learn, what are you grateful for, what memories did you make? Take some time out to reflect and, if you have time, why not try yearplanner.com?
3. Have a goal, ONE big goal, and decide now how you might celebrate it.
We try to set multiple goals, but maybe this year it’s time to aim for the stars. What is the one big thing you need to make steps towards? Yes, it might be one huge goal, but a series of smaller steps towards it will help you significantly. Decide how you will celebrate it: a reward like a watch, a new wardrobe, a phone upgrade, or even a night away.
4. Plan your gift-giving.
Be the favourite uncle or auntie this year by planning a few exceptional gifts to make a change from a trip to Argos. Our gift range is ever-increasing, and with the ability to shop by occasion, you’ll be able to find the perfect gift. Sign up to our newsletter and get 10% off as well as other exclusive offers that emerge even before they hit the website.
5. Take time out to think.
Life is fast paced and when we relax we fill it with Netflix and chill when in fact what we need to do is spend more time thinking. A notepad and pen, a large cup of coffee or tea and a space just for you to write and reflect. It’s amazing what you’ll discover when you just get quiet. Get in tune with you.
6. Phone a friend you haven’t spoken to for ages.
We can lose touch, and even with social media, a like doesn’t always go a long way. Why not be a bit more traditional and pick up the phone and have a chat? Hooking up with a lost friend reminds us that life moves quickly and we need to build time in for relationships.
Family, children, and work all take time but a friend’s wisdom might help you strike the right balance in life. Maybe it’s your kids that will benefit the most from meeting up…
7. Read THAT book.
Books are beautiful on a shelf, but they are even more beautiful in the reader’s hands. Books give us the opportunity to learn new concepts and strategies for other people’s achievement that we may use in our own lives. We can also escape into new worlds and perspectives through books, which can often be more enjoyable than watching a movie!
8. Cut something out.
Discipline actually inspires us. Choose something to cut out, stop doing, or adjust your lifestyle.
Say goodbye to sugar or carbs, goodbye to negativity. Choose the things that you know are not doing you too much good and make adjustments. It’s never too late, even if you are halfway through January. A little change goes a long way.
9. Do something different.
Do something new. A sport, a skill, or something you haven’t done for years, like art or even golf. A new lease of life awaits you. Discover new connections and maybe theme a few weekends around it.
10. Enjoy the moments.
We worry too much about the past and the future, which keeps us from living in the moment. Learn to be present in the present. Put your phone away and stay in the room if you’re watching a movie. In a world of multi-tasking, we have forgotten to enjoy the moments that life gives us. Chatting over coffee or teaching someone something new… why not savour it, enjoy it, embrace it now?
We hope that 2020 delivers for you, and from the team at Engrave It Online, we’d like to say thank you for being part of our 2019. We look forward to helping you wow your loved ones in 2020!
